Fact box: Mr John M. Phillips from Lewisham Memories of the 1948 Opening Ceremony: ”I was born in 1934 so I was 15 years old in 1948. I remember going to the opening ceremony at Wembley Stadium with my school chums from Athelney Secondary School, Bellingham. I took my sandwiches which my mother had made me in my old gas mask box! I think I am correct we saw King George VI open the games. For a boy of 15 years it was an amazing spectacle.”
How will it work?
Industry professionals will work with local groups teaching them how to make their films by running sessions according to their needs and experience. Sessions could involve story devising, story boarding, acting for camera and basic camera techniques and all finish with an opportunity to shoot a film. Groups will then upload their content onto the SEPG website and create their own PR campaign on the site to get their films seen at screenings.
SEPG will then decide on the best 26 films to go forward to the London Olympics 2012 Inspired Web Channel.
